What is Aguardiente?

After lost of research and many questions i’ve concluded Aguardiente is a very broad term and the answers vary depending on the area.

Typically, aguardiente is the simplest form of distillation.

using sugar cane and scraps making it a bit more vegetal, and or fruits to sweeten it

...but is it a rum?
